Clockwork Leviathan?

I just had a very strange dream and need to write what I remember of it before it goes away...

During one part of this dream I happened upon an enclosed space much like you would see perhaps at a fancy aquarium, only nicer, it was actually a glass dome surrounded by water and very large. There were sharks swimming around in it... the normal fare.

I found myself pulled to the left hand side of the room, along with another unspecified person I apparently knew. I believe they were my partner or assistant. It was a dark side of the tank, and we were observing the dark rock formations. It just seemed eerie....
My assistant called me over to look at something. It was an eel poking it's head out of the rocks, just... doing what eels do. He seemed friendly, I like eels.
The rocks seem the be churning slightly...There was a human looking face within the rocks. Very creepy. As I wondered what it was, more seemed to appear as the rock formation moved and the room felt heavier and heavier. Suddenly there were eyes... and it became apparent we were never looking at a landscape of rock formations but a massive terrifying creature that surrounded the entirety of the room.

I can not possibly begin to describe this thing, but a sinking feeling of dread and horror rocked me from within my very core. I had never been so frightened in my entire life. I kid you not that I felt real emotion so deep it could never be described and understood in this world... It felt as if something grabbed my soul and squeezed it infusing terror into every string of essence. it makes me tear up just thinking about the emotion.

Did I mention this thing was ginormously huge, and right next to us maybe 4 ft away with only a sheet of glass. It seemed kind of amorphous. Dark and dull but not completely lacking color. It may have had some mechanical parts in addition to the rock looking skin, but mostly it was very slimy and
I wish I could draw it but I would still never get all of the features right because I could barely comprehend what the thing really looked like. The best I can describe is a cross between a few fish, a spider, a slug, a canictis (from King Kong, I know there's a real creature similar to it, but I can't think off the top of my head), and teeth lots of teeth and slimy tentacles.

A voice told me is was a Clockwork Leviathan. And while it was definitely a leviathan by all standards, I can't really figure out to what exactly the Clockwork refers to, as strangely enough it could have meant many things, even though looking at it I'd never have called it that.

I woke up several dreams later, but being so profoundly affected by this creature I naturally decided to do a bit of light research on the net. I can't find anything useful on a Clockwork Leviathan. However I did find something Remarkably close to being the thing in my dream.

It's called Hellmouth...
or The Beast Acheron as depicted in Simon Marmion's miniature painting...

Judging from this info... I can make sense that the figures of humans within the "rock walls" of the beast that we saw were in a similar situation to this... trapped souls trying to escape.
That painting also is strikingly similar to my dream... in a 1400's kind of way.

This has been a truly strange experience.
Anyone have any comments or can dig up any more information on what the beastie in my dream could have been?

Looks like I have a new project on my hands.

Dead

My blog died.

Why? Well you could say it was a combination of extreme excitement and disappointment.
The excitement?... The Secret Saturdays. The most amazing show ever to come into my life so far, and look at me, I'm at loss for words and can't even write what it means to me.
If you haven't seen this rare beauty, check it out on Cartoon Network.

Disappointment? Few months ago it was Halloween. I was finally all geared up for it again this year. To the point where I wore my costume all day... or at least a good 12 hours - which is near torture in a half face prosthetic, but hey it made me happy. Yes, I re-tooled ( to add some features form the movie version) and re-used the "Two-Face" costume I made and wore to the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight" during my streak of insomnia and morality induced insanity (<- br="" do="" for="" half="" i="" life="" my="" something="" to="" ve="" wanted="">So what was the problem?

Well... is it just me... or are holidays... dead? Was no one feeling Halloween this year? What is it? The spirit felt like is fled. No one cared and there were hardly any costumes.
At one point we started to get annoyed with the no costumes and started to ask why to which one idiot of a mother with older kids replied that "were in a recession" blah blah blah... Well excuse me if you're so damn cheap. If that's your excuse, should I even be out here giving out candy? If I didn't, then what? I'm sure you'd call me cheap just like the other 75% of houses not giving out candy. We spend a good amount of money each Halloween to candy to give out... you can afford a costume and get in the spirit of things. You could put on a plaid sheet and call yourself a drunken ghost and I'd be more than happy. And wow, that cost you what... a couple dollars?

I've never been object giving older Trick-or-Treaters their Halloween bounty, but atleast put some effort into it!
You know... I was so disappointed this past year, I actually did a bit of ToT myself! I don't care how old I am, these few good people who still give out candy deserve better, and I'm sure I had the best costume in the neighborhood. Though I wish I planned ahead earlier. I wasn't doing it for the candy, but needed a reason to go ringing doorbells and scaring the bejesus outta people with my half disfigured face. Instead I should have made a bunch of small "I believe in Harvey Dent" pins (thank you Dark Knight), and just gone to doors handing them out. And I tell you, if I ever go Two-Face again, I will totally do that!

How apropos...

I found this beauty and it's web on the side of our house a few days ago. We've had a few rather large arachnids hanging around as of late, but this one was so stunningly gorgeous I had to go out and take some photos of it before the storm rolled around and destroyed her web.
Only wish she stuck around longer.
I don't mind co-habitating with insects/arachnids- on the inside or outside of the house, so long as they don't mess with my stuff...or kill me in my sleep. Love!

It's show time...

Ah... October. Autumn is my favorite time of the year... it's chilly, gets dark early, Halloween. It's an overall good feeling that just gets my creative juices gushing, often to the point of where I over exert myself. In fact last year I became ill on Halloween because I was just trying too hard ( the anxiety of the events going on at the time didn't help either, and further drove my obsession). I'm not going to let that happen again, even if it means having to give up on my planned V. V. Argost costume. There's always next year.

That being said... It's highly likely I will be making some more "creative" posts here ( not just just musings or rants) if I'm not too busy.

I'm very much looking forward to the premier of the Secret Saturdays this Friday, October 3rd on Cartoon Network at 8. Anyone who has spoken to me on the subject matter can attest to this fact- even series creator Jay Stephens has noted my enthusiasm to be "contagious". Well I certainly hope it is, the series deserves it.

I've been busy with CryptidSaturdays.com, in hopes to have it running in full very shortly, however just one of many distractions is the supposed Bakugan "Tournament" this coming Saturday at Toys R Us. I got sucked into the game in January and since then have collected around 70 or so of the cute little creature/ball things. I spent a good couple hours making teams of guys ( so I don't get my butt COMPLETELY whooped by little kids... seriously they're good.) and trying to make sense out of the new version of the rules so I can help out, since it's just being run by the store staff, and quite honestly... I already know thats' going to be a disaster. Last time they did this, I ended up staying the whole 4 hours to play and moderate games between the kids, it's fun.

Ah well.

Feel free to give the guy in this post a name. ;P

The obligatory Star Wars post

So... Star Wars: Clone Wars came out today. Yeah, I went to the midnight show... yeah, I saw it again later in the day. Yeah... it was pretty good for what it was. Then again, I'm a child-like sap who gets excited over little things and cries over teacher/ student relationships.
Sadly, there wasn't as big of a turnout as I had hoped (which makes me feel slightly better about not dressing up as Ventress like I did for Ep III), but at least the day showings had lots of younglings coming to the show. Entertaining kids is really what it's all about after all.
But seriously, what steams me is that the lack of people is most likely due to the film being animated and it makes me think... would the far superior 2D animated Clone Wars done by Genndy have generated a better or worse turnout? I don't really understand the excitement over CG anyway, let alone live action.

Speaking of turnouts, General Grievous was in the movie for a total of... 1 second within the opening narration. Leaves me to wonder why Hasbro's line manager would choose him for the first wave of Clone Wars figures over Ashoka Tano or Asajj Ventress. In any case, the droid army general earned his spot as my favorite Star Wars character ever since his debut in chapter 20 of the original series and is a rare example of a final product actually being cooler than the concept art.
I got bored waiting for my food at a restaurant after the movie and doodled him as seen above.

On the plus side, the theater played the new Secret Saturdays commercial before the movie and I nearly wet myself. Seriously, I am so psyched, I could have left the theater after that and it would have been worth my $8. October can't come fast enough.

O Snap!

With a new blog, I figure I should start with a brand new creature. This fellow crawled out from from my brain today... Creature 073 AKA Snapok.

Actually, I invite you to name him or any of my monsters for that matter. I very recently started numbering my creations due to not being able to name them. Hrmm...

Spectre is back?

Well I guess so. I'm back on a personal blog... a shiny brand new one!
Spectre figures she needs a place to post more personal things that don't have to do with her fan sites. Most importantly of those things would probably be my artwork, and this should provide a quick and easy way to do such a thing. I tend to be a forgetful creature... but what do you expect in trying to do so many things at once.
So there is the reason for this, and here I am.

Now let's pry into that mind...
